I was alone when the trailer I was towing blew a tire, and I didn’t have a spare. The owner, a Christian man, made sure I felt safe while we waited for my son to arrive. He even had me park my truck where he could keep an eye on it with his security camera, and the housekeeper offered me a tire in case it helped. Everyone working there was kind. It’s an older place that they’re fixing up, but my room was clean and comfortable. This motel is halfway between my son’s house and ours, so I’d stay again if I’m too tired to drive home. I was here for four nights after my car broke down, and paid a little over $200. The first motel I tried wanted $90 a night and couldn’t even store the food from my frozen cooler. Here I had a full-size fridge and freezer, microwave, two beds, hot water, cable, and internet. I got a discount for staying four nights instead of three, and the man who checked me in was very friendly. The maintenance guy, who was also an electrician, was just as nice. He suggested places to eat, checked that I had what I needed, and offered to help with my car. Housekeeping came by at least daily with clean towels and offered to take the trash. The building used to be a nursing home and they’re still fixing it up, so the interior isn’t on Hilton’s level. Still, my room was clean from the floors to the bedding, and the staff gave me the impression they care about the place. It’s a good way to save money and get more for what you pay, if the decor doesn’t bother you.

We lasted about 20 minutes before booking another room down the street. The room was filthy, with mystery stains everywhere, cigarette burns on the sheets, and old stained pillows that had no cases and even had writing on them. The towels were unfolded and looked used, and there was a shaver in the shower. Wires and plugs hung out of the wall, with nothing plugged in. It felt like being in a horror movie. I’ve never seen anything this disgusting. Don’t book here unless you want to catch something or maybe get stabbed.

The bed was comfortable, the shower got hot, and the man who checked us in was very accommodating. He made sure the room was clean and we had fresh towels. The price was extremely affordable, though the place is dated and there wasn’t any coffee made. For a mom-and-pop establishment, they’re trying, and we’ll be back.
