Best Western Syracuse Downtown Hotel and Suites

The suite gave me plenty of space to settle in, with a separate living room, lots of desk space, and fast, reliable free Wi-Fi. But the mattress was hard enough to leave me stiff in the morning, and the sofa and lounge chair had so little support that I couldn’t comfortably work or relax for more than a few minutes. The furniture felt like one-star hostel stuff, even though the suite itself was spacious and well equipped. The price also felt more like a three-star rate for four-star service. Staff from housekeeping to the front desk were warm, professional, and proactive. This is a grand old hotel, and it’s been carefully maintained. The lobby and public areas have real historic character without feeling dusty or worn, and it’s clear the management cares about the building’s heritage. With better bedding and seating to match the service and setting, it could easily be the city’s premier hotel again.

We had a room on the 10th floor facing the museum, with a nice view. It was a cold, windy weekend, so we didn’t do much walking around. Staff on both the day and night shifts were pleasant and professional. I’d recommend staying here if you’re in town.

The property itself was fine, but I felt very uncomfortable after an interaction with Holly D. Her communication was passive-aggressive and unprofessional, and she accused me of smoking in the lobby when I hadn’t. She said there was “camera evidence,” but never showed any, and it seemed untrue. I am not a smoker!!!!!! The way I was spoken to felt unfair and disrespectful. Guests shouldn’t feel targeted over a serious accusation made without proof. This left me uncomfortable during my stay, and I’d like management to address how staff approach guests and handle these situations. I didn’t find the experience welcoming or respectful.

I love this historic Downtown Best Western. The building has a lot of character, and the 10th floor felt wonderfully private. I didn’t realize when booking that the MOST Museum was just steps away, so that was a nice surprise. The suites are spacious, with a surprisingly big kitchen area. The front desk hosts were wonderful, and breakfast was better than at most Best Westerns I’ve visited. The coffee was dark, bold, and proper. There’s vending, ice, and safe parking, too. This will be my go-to Syracuse spot. Thanks, Downtown Syracuse Best Western!
