Marriott Syracuse Downtown

The room layout and features worked well for me, and the staff were extremely friendly with amazing service. Cleaning could have been better, and the curtains needed repairs. Paying for parking was a downside, though there are good overnight and valet options.

Gonzalo and the rest of the staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel has delicious food and bar options, and it's an easy walk to the OnCenter, though there's not much else nearby. We asked the front desk for something and it never arrived, a letdown but no big deal. Rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable, while the lobby, elevators, ballroom, and building had been restored with their early 1900s character. One warning: the 9th floor is just below the ballroom. Between 1 and 3 a.m., tables and chairs were being dragged around during cleanup, and it wasn't fun.

After a five-hour drive to a town we'd never visited, Kevin's cheerful, welcoming greeting was exactly what we needed. He went out of his way to share whatever information we needed and was so kind that he made us feel at home, far from home. The hotel was beautiful and clean, and its location worked perfectly for our Syracuse University visit. We'll be back, and every Marriott could use staff like Kevin.

After a career that has kept me touring for decades, I've eaten more hotel breakfasts than I can count. Madee made this one memorable. At 6:15 a.m., before any food was set out, she came through the back door and arranged the golden chafing dishes with calm, focused care. Her uniform was crisp and her movements deliberate, with the quiet confidence of someone who takes pride in the work. I was seated at the far table in the M-Club of the Syracuse Marriott Downtown. As I finished sausage, scrambled eggs, and fingerling potatoes, Madee came over at just the right moment, greeted me warmly, and offered a complimentary holiday gift bag. It was a small gesture, but she delivered it with such sincerity that I was charmed. My eggs had cooled while I wrote this review, but seemed to perk up in her presence. She asked what brought me to town and listened closely when I said I was a Syracuse native home from Florida for Christmas. Then she returned to her station without letting the conversation drag. I heard her greet other guests with the same respect and attentiveness. Hotels can have lovely rooms and good food, but people like Madee are what make a stay memorable. She represents courtesy, quiet excellence, and pride in her work. Marriott should take note. She's a credit to the M-Club and the whole profession.
