Homewood Suites by Hilton Yorktown Newport News

For a quick concert trip to Hampton Colisseum, this was a handy spot, close to the highway and surrounded by shopping, restaurants, and gas stations. The women at check-in were friendly and helpful. My King suite was nice and had all the amenities, and the free parking was easy once I registered my car and got a pass. I’d stay here again, and it seems suited to longer visits too. I didn’t get the free water I should have as a Hilton member, though I saw someone else with theirs. Housekeeping also woke me before my alarm, banging on doors so loudly it sounded like she was at mine. Other guests’ conversations and laughter carried between rooms. It wasn’t a big deal to me, but the soundproofing isn’t great if you want quiet. Breakfast is included, but I didn’t try it, so I can’t comment on the food.

Breakfast was a 10/10 for me. The fruit was fresh, there was a good variety, and I even went back for seconds, which I never usually do. We asked if we could go outside and they said sure. As for the suite, it was very spacious, with a full kitchen, two TVs, and a pullout couch. It could fit five people, though there were only two of us. First time staying here, and the room was much nicer than I expected. See you next time ❤️

We were rushing to get our daughter to bed after arriving late from Busch Gardens, so I didn’t let her walk around the room. I was glad we’d brought a pack n play. The floors looked completely untouched by housekeeping: clipped fingernails on the bathroom floor, dirt in the kitchenette, blood on the bathroom door, and hair in the shower. I can only hope the sheets had been changed. At breakfast the next morning, the waffle mix had been taken away early, and I had to ask for forks. I chose this hotel because of its cleanliness reviews, but that was a big mistake. They’re refusing even partial compensation, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We were between homes while waiting to move into our new place, and Homewood Suites by Hilton Yorktown Newport News made that stressful stretch feel comforting. It was safe and cozy, and our suite stayed clean, fresh, and stocked thanks to housekeeping. Having a gym and laundry facilities was especially useful for a longer stay, and the location near restaurants and shopping made everyday errands convenient. The front desk staff made us feel cared for from the start. Mrs. Kelly, Sean, and Mrs. Karen were particularly wonderful. They remembered us, were kind to our children, and made real connections instead of just doing their jobs. Our kids looked forward to seeing them each day, and as a parent, that meant a lot. This became a meaningful home away from home during a major transition for our family. We’re grateful for how warmly we were treated, and if we need a place again, this will be our first choice. We’ll happily recommend it to friends and family. Thank you for caring for us 💛
