Holiday Inn Tacoma Mall by IHG

The pool was a highlight: clean and well-kept, with a nice enclosed pool, a huge hot tub, and ADA amenities. It's a bit out of the way, and staff don't monitor the area, but safety equipment and emergency phones are available. We were there over New Year's Eve weekend, and the staff seemed a little short-handed but were pleasant and professional. Even on the first floor by a street-facing window and elevator, the room was reasonably quiet, considering the holiday. It was comfortable, though the tub and shower were oddly tucked behind a partial wall. The buffet breakfast was practical and tasty, but there were no real vegetarian or vegan options, and pork was the featured protein, so people with dietary restrictions will need other meal plans. There are several nearby places, including Subway, Indian food, and a couple of others. The hotel's smash burger restaurant was decent, but the wait was long, it felt understaffed, and it was overpriced. It's an option if you don't want to go out or order Doordash, though there are better choices.

The staff are nice and the rooms are clean, but this was my second road trip stay here and the noise was even worse than the first time. Big engine cars kept popping or racing on the nearby street until 2am. My family felt like we were sleeping by an airway. The room does a poor job blocking sound, and in my opinion this location just isn't suitable for a hotel.

The location made it easy to get around, and parking was convenient. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff were friendly and ready to answer questions. I had a great, pleasant stay and would gladly choose this Holiday Inn again. Highly recommend!
