Aloft Tallahassee Downtown

I accidentally booked June 6, 2026 instead of July 6, then spent several calls trying to sort it out. Hotels.com told me to contact the hotel, but after I finally reached someone there, they said third-party bookings had to go through the booking site. The representative I called was hard to understand and said the hotel had been contacted; staff supposedly promised to email but couldn’t help while assisting a customer. Changing the reservation dates from June 6 to July 6 seemed like a simple fix, yet everyone acted as if it couldn’t be done. I don’t buy that. Enjoy the $150 and this review. I’ve never stayed there, and I won’t be staying in July as planned. I’ll go somewhere else.

The only pleasant part of my stay was the two young women I met at checkout. From check-in onward, service was awful. The pool was filthy with bugs and leaves, and I had to ask twice for the cleaner to be removed for my four-year-old’s safety. My room wasn’t clean to standard, and despite no longer being Platinum Elite, I noticed a difference in how I was treated. I’ve stayed at dozens of Marriott properties across countries and continents and have never been told the things this staff told me. The lobby staff also spent much of the time huddled together whenever I came through. There was also a second card authorization that went through this morning. After check-in yesterday, I saw “approved” once before being asked to run my card again. I was told there was only one authorization, but today there were two, with no technical explanation, just “no it’s not.” I’ll be escalating it. This property doesn’t operate to Marriott’s standards. As a former employee and longtime Marriott traveler, I wouldn’t recommend it even for an award night. Save yourself the headache and stay elsewhere. The GM and other staff could use more customer service training.

The location was ideal, the staff were welcoming, and Gabe gave us an appropriate room upgrade. Still, several things made the stay uncomfortable. The toilet was dirty, and I’m pretty sure there were pubic hairs left behind. The sheets felt paper thin, with no comforter. Leaves covered the pool, and the walls were so thin that it felt like downtown was in our room and we couldn’t sleep. I’d pick somewhere else.

The Aloft Tallahassee has sleek, clean rooms and a modern boutique feel, with a lively social atmosphere and a great downtown location for exploring. The staff were really friendly and check-in was easy. I liked relaxing in the lobby or getting a drink at the W XYZ bar. This is definitely my go-to spot in Tally.
