Baymont by Wyndham Tallahassee

The location was outstanding, and having a smoking room was really nice. I enjoyed my stay, but the floors weren’t clean, so I mopped them and cleaned the shower and toilet myself. The bathroom was very small, the shower pressure was poor, and the walls were thin enough that I could hear the people next door during their intimate moments. I’m sure they could hear me too. I always bring my own sheets, pillows, and bed covers.

We were just stopping for one night, and it worked out well. The hotel is right off I-10, newly renovated, clean, and well equipped. Mr. Shah was very sweet, and check-in went smoothly. Our stay was quiet and peaceful.

The front desk guy was patient and helpful, and everything in the room worked. I’d call the place about 2.5 to 3 stars, suitable for a night or two at most. I booked because of a personal emergency and only needed somewhere to sleep for one night. The room felt old and musty, especially around the AC unit and bathroom. As a young woman traveling alone, I was already uneasy about my safety, and odd noises outside plus a door that wouldn’t close all the way made it worse. I noticed the door stayed cracked open, even when I was trying to fall asleep. It could still lock fully, thankfully, but it was a scary place to stay.

The room was in terrible shape. The floor was buckled, and when I turned on the filthy AC, it blew dirt and dust. There was no working hot water or pressure, so we couldn’t bathe. Breakfast looked old, with watered-down coffee and juice and no milk for the dry cereal. Other guests seemed to be living there and partied noisily until around 2:30 or 3 a.m. Police arrived the next morning, though they hadn’t come during the disturbance. The pool looked nice, but we didn’t use it. The only thing missing was bed bugs. I wish I’d taken photos.
