What stood out most was the service. The staff were warm and went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable, with helpful suggestions for local restaurants and attractions. Governors Inn in Tallahassee, Florida, has a prime spot downtown, steps from the Florida State Capitol, the Supreme Court, and plenty of shops and restaurants, so exploring the city was easy. The building's history gives it a lot of character. It began as a stable and warehouse in the 1920s and became a boutique hotel in the 1980s. Exposed brick, wooden beams, and antique furniture preserve that historic feel, and the rooms are each named after a Florida governor. My spacious room was beautifully decorated and had the modern amenities I needed. The bed was very comfortable, and the historical details made it feel like stepping back in time while still having today's conveniences. It was a fantastic stay, with Southern hospitality and a lovely mix of historic charm and modern comfort. I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tallahassee.

There's a lot to like about this cool hotel, and if anything goes wrong, the staff will try to sort it out. Our room's A/C had a problem, so they quickly moved us to an upgraded room. That room was a bit dirty because housekeeping had made a mistake. The staff apologized sincerely and took care of it quickly. They were very accommodating throughout. It's an older building with character, though not the right choice if you want a pristine place. The furniture looks old to match the decor, and the walls have historical factoids about Florida governership. I'd love to stay again.

Getting to the third floor was quite a trek since the stairs aren't all together. You might want to bring a few hobbits, a wizard, a dwarf, and an elf for the journey. I'm also pretty short, so the very tall bed made a middle-of-the-night bathroom trip a minor fiasco. Still, the room was clean and comfortable, every staff member I met was friendly and helpful, and the service was great. All in all, a pleasant stay, and I'd recommend this hotel.

I've stayed at this hotel several times and plan to keep coming back. The beds are extremely comfortable, and when I couldn't figure out the quirky TV system, staff quickly came to my room and showed me how it worked. Breakfast was very nice and included with my stay, though it ends a bit early, so set an alarm if you want some. I saw several parties turned away for arriving late. The historic building has a lovely feel, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It's centrally located too. I recommend paying extra for valet, since the nearest garage is about a block away and costs about the same. Rates can vary wildly with events in Tallahassee. I've paid as little as $71 and seen rates as high as $400 online. Call ahead. There are no elevators to the second floor, but staff were happy to carry my luggage up.

I needed a place after the Aloft and another national chain were booked, and I'm glad I found this hotel. It's quiet and works well for a business trip, with a spacious, well-appointed room, free wifi, a small daily breakfast, and an evening cocktail hour. The in-room refrigerator is handy for keeping snacks on my own schedule. I think the price is lower because there's no on-site restaurant or gym, but both are within walking distance, and I like not paying for things I might not use. I'd easily stay again.
