When we arrived at 12:30 pm, the man at the desk found our reservation, verified my Hilton Honors account, and confirmed that our room was being cleaned. We had an event at 2 pm and couldn't return for the 3 pm check-in, so he reassured us that the room was secured and wouldn't be given away. We had booked three weeks earlier, with plenty of rooms available then, and were celebrating my daughter's birthday. But after our event ended at 10:30 pm, there was nobody at the desk to greet us or even a bell to ring. A woman eventually came out and immediately said they were overbooked and had no rooms. I explained we'd been told ours was confirmed and being cleaned. She still said there was no room, and refused when I asked her either to provide one or refund the payment we'd already made. She also wouldn't get a manager and said she'd call security because she felt threatened, even though witnesses said we hadn't threatened her. She hid in her office until security arrived. Security told us there was no room because we'd booked through Expedia. I said I'd used Expedia many times without problems and that I was also a Hilton Honors member, but they said nothing could be done and we had to leave. I called Manager Chris Jones on Tuesday and explained everything. He agreed the representative and security had handled it incorrectly. He said they should have offered another hotel so my family wouldn't have to drive 3.5 hours home, and that she should have shown proof that no room had been issued when I asked. Chris Jones was nice, and I appreciate him acknowledging the poor handling, including the unnecessary call to security when she could have shown proof. We felt discriminated against because we booked through Expedia three weeks ahead. My daughter's birthday ended badly, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel until staff are trained to handle overbooking and customer service properly.

I usually just want to feel safe, have a clean room, and get a good night's sleep. This hotel only managed the safety part. The door was very hard to open from inside and out, which made me feel safer, jokingly. The room looked clean at first, but most towels and washcloths had long hairs, and there was long hair in the tub. The grab bar was rusty and didn't feel safe to hold while bathing, especially since I get dizzy. I skipped the shower because the tub was dirty and I couldn't trust the bar in a slippery tub. The bathroom baseboard was coming off too. The TV wouldn't turn on, but after I turned off the lights, it glowed blue and wouldn't go dark. I couldn't move the heavy credenza to unplug it, and turning the TV toward the wall just made the light reflect back into the room. I need darkness to sleep. Most hotels have blackout curtains or blinds now, so I no longer pack an eye mask, but I'll be sure to bring one again. It was a long, sleepless night. I got text messages asking about my stay and reported the problems by text. Someone I thought was reception apologized but said they couldn't change my room because the hotel was sold out. The next evening, the general manager told me those were automated replies that hadn't alerted staff, and that nobody named Danyelle worked there. A housekeeper overheard and said long hairs often show up on their linen coming out of the dryer, and offered to clean my room at noon the next day. I told her I was checking out early for business appointments starting at 8:30 am. I was shocked. When I went back to collect my things and move rooms, housekeeping hadn't cleaned it, which may explain why that housekeeper kept saying she'd come at noon. The GM moved me to another room, which was great, clean and safe, and I slept like a baby. But they didn't offer Hilton Honors points or a credit. The GM told me to take whatever wine, drinks, and snacks I wanted from the personal market store, and they didn't seem apologetic about what happened. I don't think this hotel lives up to the Hilton promise and standard. I usually stay at the Hampton Inn Capitol - University, but State Legislature session made it too expensive, so I chose Hampton Inn 1-10 Thomasville Road. I'll seriously consider the Drury Inn before staying at this Hampton again.

Jeremy, the receptionist and assistant manager, was phenomenal when we arrived. He patiently answered all our questions and gave us the information we needed. The woman we spoke with by phone was also very helpful and made booking smooth. My friend and I found a great deal, thank the Lord, and this Hampton Inn was especially comfortable compared with others I've stayed at with my family. Since it was so cold, they left the fire pit on for us and other guests, even though it was meant to be off after closing. As a devoted believer in the Lord, I was touched when Jeremy gave me a baby Jesus after I asked a few times, lol. I usually give them out myself but had run out, so it meant a lot to receive one. There was a little dust under the bathroom sink for anyone with OCD, but it was a wonderful stay. I'd highly recommend this warm, welcoming, comfortable hotel. Thank you again!

The floors were so sticky my feet and socks stuck to them. Check-out is at 11, but housekeeping knocked at 9 am. I told her we were in the room and asked if I could help. She left, then came back an hour later and let herself in while we were still there. Our door hadn't closed all the way because my husband had just walked in with the luggage cart, less than two minutes earlier. If my husband, child, or I had been doing anything other than getting ready to leave, this would've been more than a Google review. It's easy enough to call the desk and check whether a room has checked out. Very unprofessional. I shared my concerns with the front desk, so just be aware.

The place is quiet and set well away from the interstate and main roads, with plenty of restaurants nearby. Breakfast, coffee, and the exercise room were all just okay, and the staff seemed rather indifferent. The heat worked fine on my first, warm night, but the next night was cold by local standards and it only blew cold air. I slept in jeans and a hoodie. No one was at the desk in the morning, so I reported it through the app. It had been fixed by that evening, then failed again the following night. For the room quality, the price felt too high. I'm not sure I'd stay again.
