Courtyard by Marriott Tampa North/I-75 Fletcher

I’m a disabled veteran, and they charged me a $100 cleaning fee just for spilled popcorn. The chef yelled at me loudly, burned my grilled cheese, and didn’t offer to remake it. They said they’d remove it from the check, then charged me the full amount anyway. Service at this particular Courtyard Marriott is terrible. Don’t come here if you don’t want to pay an extra $100 for nothing. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The noise was still completely unacceptable after midnight. Guests across the hall from my room seemed to be having a party, and groups were shouting and talking loudly in the hallway. I appreciate that the front desk tried to remind them to quiet down, but nothing improved. That reflects badly on the guests, and on how the hotel manages and enforces quiet hours. A hotel should offer a peaceful place to rest, especially late at night. Management didn’t follow up effectively or take action, which was extremely disappointing. This stay missed even the most basic expectations.

I’ve been a Titanium Elite and am now Gold Lifetime, with decades of Marriott stays in the US and overseas. Most have been top-notch, but this one was a wreck. We were told there was remodeling, then learned there’d been a fire in a room shortly before our trip. There was Servpro equipment everywhere, with huge fans and vacuums addressing water damage. Our room was two doors from the fire room. Photos show the fan and dehumidifier right outside ours and a remodeling notice on the room nearby. We were on the third floor, but the damage was even more obvious on the first. The staff were fairly friendly and helpful, considering what they had to deal with. Still, the building is old and worn and really needs remodeling. The furniture in our room was stained, the floors and carpet were dirty, and the sink was plugged. The shower head was really nice, at least. It’s unfortunate to see the property so run down, since it does the Marriott brand no justice. Maybe the mishap will lead to a facelift. For now, stay somewhere else.

The staff were really friendly, and the rooms were clean. It’s a convenient spot for nearby hiking and wildlife parks. We had a great stay.
