The airport shuttle was a plus: it arrived soon after I called and runs until midnight. The property itself looks much older than the photos suggest. As a Silver Elite member, I didn’t get an upgrade and was put on the second floor facing the highway sound barrier. I’d also arranged late checkout at check-in, but housekeeping knocked before 11 a.m. asking when I’d be leaving, even though standard checkout is noon and my late checkout was for 2 p.m. The stay wasn’t terrible, but it missed the mark and the nightly price is hard to justify.

Noise was the biggest issue. The freeway was especially loud at night, planes taking off and landing were easy to hear, and sounds from the room next door came through too. The room itself had a microwave and a fairly roomy mini fridge, and the property seems to have had some renovation in the past decade. Still, it wasn’t cleaned thoroughly: there was hair in the bathroom and big crumbs or other debris on the couch. There’s no free water here either. Bottles in the room cost $6.

Getting to the airport was easy, especially for returning a rental car. I was in Tampa for the first time and chose this place because it was nearby and I had a work discount. I might look elsewhere next time, though I wouldn’t rule it out completely. The employees were mostly great, the room was clean and the bed was fine. Our top-floor room faced the freeway, so it was a bit noisy, and the AC felt weak enough that the room stayed humid. The smoke detector also had a very bright flashing light right above the bed. At breakfast I asked for iced tea since tea was on the Starbucks menu, but was told they couldn’t make it and I should buy a bottle from the hotel pantry. I didn’t, and when breakfast arrived, which was decent, they offered me water and brought ice water. So they had tea and ice, just not iced tea.

Angela Jackson at the front desk made sure we had what we needed and went above and beyond to make the stay feel special. Ken was also terrific with both airport pickup and drop-off. The people really made it a five-star visit. The hotel has what you need and is in a great spot, but the service stood out most.

I hadn’t stayed at this property before and was pleasantly surprised. The bed was comfortable, and there was a nice couch for watching TV in the room. Check-in was quick and simple. They’ve got a small market for snacks and drinks, plus a bar and food area if you don’t feel like heading out. It’s also well placed for getting to lots of good spots around Tampa. A great option if you need somewhere to stay in town.
