Hampton Inn Tampa/Rocky Point-Airport

Ty at the front desk made this a five-star stay. He was juggling several things when I arrived, but still handled everything smoothly and was generous with his time. Since I had an early flight, he suggested taking the shuttle the night before, which saved me a full day's cost. He also pointed out the closest, cheapest gas station without my having to ask, arranged my airport pickup and next morning's drop-off, and gave me spot-on advice about when to leave. The room was clean and nice, and the shower pressure was surprisingly good. After a week in Florida, that felt like a luxury. The parking lot was well lit and felt safe, as did the neighborhood around it. I only saw the property after dark, so can't say much more about it, but I had a very nice stay and plan to return.

We were four hours behind schedule after a dreadful eight-hour drive from Fort Myers, with bad accidents along the way. The service at the hotel was fantastic. We were hungry and my husband was about to order pizza, but Ty, the night manager, suggested Bahama Breeze behind the hotel. Dinner was great, and we were back in our room and asleep two hours later. The room was clean and quiet, and the beds were comfortable. We got the “penthouse,” just without the view!

The room was the usual standard type, a bit dated, but housekeeping did a good job. What made this a one-star stay was the awful smell, like a dead animal or sewage backing up. I told the staff, but there weren't any other rooms available to move me into. I bought four air fresheners to cover it up. The smell was still there, just less overpowering.

The location, one exit from Tampa airport, was a handy bonus, and the organized shuttle made check-in and checkout easy. My room was spotless and the breakfast setup was great. The staff made the stay feel special. Ty McGuire at the desk welcomed me, explained the area, and shared useful details, which I don't often get at other hotels. Carol Larson, the General Manager, and Sandra from Housekeeping were also very courteous and did a wonderful job. It was a really special stay at the Hampton Inn Tampa Airport Rocky Point. Highly recommended!
