Hilton Garden Inn Tampa Ybor Historic District

I found this hotel after a disastrous Airbnb stay, which I cancelled soon after arriving. I'd come to Ybor a few days before my cruise to enjoy the area, then learned Tampa Bay was hosting the NFL game on Saturday and worried I wouldn't find a room. I managed to book four nights at the Hilton Garden Inn Ybor for a very reasonable price. Melissa at the desk listened while I vented about the Airbnb and was wonderful. She upgraded me to a bigger room, suggested great restaurants, and told me about the hotel's bar and breakfast. My room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, with a very comfortable bed and blackout curtains. The restaurants she recommended were the best, and their prices weren't bad. She greeted me and checked in about how things were going each day. I also watched her with other guests, and she was helpful with everyone and had a great personality. Breakfast in the lobby was good and inexpensive. For $15, I had coffee, orange juice, two eggs, bacon, and toast. Yoan was attentive, quick, and checked that people had what they needed to start the day. I also visited the bar, which I think serves beer and wine from 5 to 9:30 PM. The server had a great personality and was engaging with guests, though I can't remember his name. I'll definitely stay again. It's an easy walk to restaurants and bars, and only two free trolley stops from the cruise port.

The rooms are a little dated, but very clean. I gave it four stars for that reason, even though the whole staff was accommodating. I was in town for the Heritage Festival, and the location was super convenient. The festival was right outside the front door. I'm especially writing to praise Melissa at the front desk. She went beyond her job to make sure we were all set. After we came in soaked from the storm, she had dry towels waiting, kept checking whether we needed anything, suggested things to do, and even let us know where not to go. She was sweet and incredibly helpful, and put extra effort into hospitality. I'm looking forward to coming back and will recommend this hotel to family and friends.

The TV in our room hasn't worked since yesterday, and nobody has been able to fix it. The person who could repair it left at 9 PM and was supposed to return at 7 AM. When I came back to the desk at 8, they offered free eggs as compensation. At 3 AM I'd already been offered something to make up for my room stay, and now the offer was eggs. We're checking out today, and only then can they fix it. We've stayed at Hilton Garden hotels before, but this has to be one of the worst. Our previous stay in Winter Park was a completely different experience and level of service. The woman at the front desk this morning had an attitude and acted like she was paying for our stay. I'm an unsatisfied customer in room 401.

Bri made our arrival at the Hilton Garden Inn feel special. She upgraded our room because we're Gold members, a lovely surprise that made the trip feel better from the start. Check-in itself was quick, and she explained things clearly, answered all our questions, and never made us feel rushed. She was warm and attentive throughout, and it was obvious she cared about welcoming us. That kind of recognition is a big part of why loyalty programs matter. Bri represents the hotel so well, and we appreciated her help. We'd happily stay here again.
