Check-in was easy, our reservation was ready, and we found a decent price online. The agents were friendly and polite, though the advertised Japanese restaurant had closed, which was disappointing. The room had little black grasshoppers coming in from outside through a gap in the door frame, big enough to see through. I liked the king bed’s size, but it was hard, and the pillows were too soft and squishy. The pool might have been fun, but leaves and tree debris were floating around and covering the bottom. Only the front entrance was open, so we had to walk all the way around since the one near our room was locked. Kids’ toys were scattered around the pool deck, apparently from some long-term residents. Some people at the pool had no armband, and one was drinking alcohol. We also saw a few residents behaving unsettlingly in the parking lot. I didn’t feel this was somewhere I’d stay again.

We’d had a long day on the road and checked in late Friday afternoon, but the room was musty and moldy smelling. The carpet by the AC was wet, the fridge was unplugged and warm, and melted water had pooled on the floor. After my husband showered, we found the tub wouldn’t drain. We packed up after about 20 minutes and asked the front desk for a different room. The woman there said maintenance had to inspect the assigned room first, and there was no manager available. We were left waiting at 10 pm on a Friday for maintenance to arrive, even though we were just asking for another room. We eventually left. The customer service was horrible. I’ll call the manager in the morning and hope I’m not charged for a room we didn’t use. I won’t stay here again or recommend it. The parking lot also needs security: there was sketchy activity, with people walking around asking for money, and who knows what else.

The pool was the cleanest I’ve ever used at any hotel, and we practically had it to ourselves, with only about five people there over our four days. East Japanese Bar and Grill next door is a fabulous restaurant and bar that will bring food and drinks right to the pool. The room was clean, recently updated, and tastefully decorated, and the hotel overall is well kept for a discount property. Breakfast is included in most cases, with eggs, bacon, waffles, and more, which adds value. You get people from all walks of life at a discount hotel. I’d avoid a room at the back, where quite a few people seemed to be hanging around. Still, it was a good experience and I’d stay again.

The kids had such a good time in the pool with its neon lights at night that we stayed an extra night. Breakfast was the best continental one I’ve had at a hotel. We also worked out in the gym. It’s small, but has everything you need and all the equipment is new and in excellent shape. Whoever said it was falling apart was lying. If you can’t get a full-body workout there, you don’t know how to work out, just saying. We stayed in the west wing and will be back. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, with huge soft towels too, and I love how much attention they pay to detail. You don’t see that at other hotels!
