Sleep Inn & Suites Tampa South

For the price, this is a great value. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, and they let me check in very early, around 12:30 p.m. even though I think check-in time is 3:00. The continental breakfast is about what you'd expect, but enough. I was happier than expected with the gym: it has dumbbells up to 50 lbs, which isn't that common for a hotel fitness center. One thing to know, the treadmill's speed button is broken. You can speed up but can't slow it back down, so make sure you're ready to keep up with whatever speed you choose 😂 My only real critiques are about the neighborhood. Being near Gandy boulevard is probably one of the main draws, but the hotel's just far enough into an "up-and-coming" area, as a well-versed real estate agent might say. It's not terrible, but it could be better.

The staff’s attitude is what made this Sleep Inn stand out for me. Everyone seemed genuinely ready to help, and Irina at breakfast remembered me even though it had been over a year since my last stay. She kept the food stocked and was quick to help. The breakfast had plenty of choices, including for late arrivals, and there was ample parking. My room was clean, the bedding was excellent, and the pillows were especially comfortable. I also appreciated the decorated lobby and its lit Christmas tree. Maggie at the front desk kindly let me check in early after I’d driven through the night. She offered a place to wait in the breakfast seating area with the TV and news, and said she’d let me know as soon as the room was ready. I’m a Choice Diamond member, but I believe she helped because that’s simply how she approaches service. I’ve stayed in plenty of good hotels, but in my opinion this one is great. The location worked really well, with plenty of shops and places to eat nearby, and the price was affordable. My first stay at Sleep Inn Tampa Hotel was a good one. The room was very clean when I arrived and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was okay, and both the lobby and the outside areas looked and smelled clean. I’d come back for a weekend or even a stay of several weeks.

For a reasonably priced place within about ten minutes of downtown, the hockey arena, and Hard rock, this hotel has some useful points. The desk staff were kind, the bed was comfortable, and there’s free coffee and cocoa around the clock, plus snacks you can buy on site. The accessible room had a shower that flooded the bathroom, so we had to mop every day. The TV volume was locked so low we couldn’t hear it, and the remote was so filthy that after shining my phone light on it, we didn’t touch it again. We skipped breakfast because it looked disgusting. Parking also costs extra, which seems absurd for an outdoor hotel outside downtown where parking is usually free. The surrounding area didn’t feel unsafe, but it wasn’t very nice. If you mainly need somewhere to sleep near things, it may do. The front desk people were very kind, but I’d call it a solid two-star hotel.
