The Palms

The WiFi was terrible. I had to log in again every day, it sometimes kicked me off, and sometimes didn’t work at all. I couldn’t even have a smooth Webex meeting. When I raised it, Ivy said, “you're not obligated to use the FREE in-house internet, some tenants get their own WiFi if they choose to not use the in house one.” There were lots of little bugs, possibly cockroaches, crawling around the bathroom. The walls were paper thin, so I could hear the neighbor talking on the phone in the middle of the night. The elevator didn’t work. I wouldn’t give this place any stars. Ivy, the landlord, is dishonest and only cares about money. She agreed to prorate my stay in September through mid-November, then decided to charge me the daily rate for November after I’d already stayed over a month. I ended up paying $180 a night, $540 total, for the three days I stayed in November. I moved out because I couldn’t stand dealing with dishonest people.

The rooms are very basic, with free WiFi but no TV. Each one has a balcony, which was handy for smoking. It’s close to the beach.

It’s in a great spot and doesn’t cost much. There’s no breakfast in the morning, but the 24-hour store downstairs is an option.

Right on Ypao Road, it’s a quiet place with not much going on. Fine for a short visit, more like a rest stop.
