The property was beautiful and incredibly clean, and we had probably the best hotel stay we’ve ever had. Tim was professional and had a great attitude, while James at the overnight front desk was phenomenal. He gave my husband a tour and treated us like family. We were looking for two nights to celebrate my husband’s birthday, but hadn’t settled on where to go. When I called on Tuesday to ask about the services, Perry Hirsch, whom we’d never met, answered. He was warm, welcoming, and friendly, and we knew right after talking to him that this was the kind of service we wanted. We’ll definitely be back soon. Thank you so much, you guys are AWESOME!

I loved the grounds, especially the cozy little places to hang out, and this is by far my favorite property to stay at. I’ll be back and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. It’s also way nicer and prettier than the sleepy hollow hotel down the street, which looks much dingier in person than it does online. We’re really glad we chose this one. The room was huge, with a little window bench nook I loved. The side tables were unusual in a fun way, the bed was comfortable, and the blankets were nice. There was even an extra blanket at the end of the bed for when it got chilly at night. A couple things to know: there were quite a few cups left outside from the on-site restaurant. That seemed more like a problem with people not using the nearby garbage cans than the restaurant staff not cleaning up after grown adults. There are also quite a few stairs between floors and no elevator to bring luggage up, which surprised both me and my boyfriend, as well as other guests. It’s an old building that’s been kept up well, so I can’t complain much, but ask for a ground-floor room if stairs or accessibility are an issue. What a wonderful place!

The bathroom was a highlight. The shower was great, and I loved the toiletries. The blackout shade also kept the morning light out, so we could stay in bed longer than expected. Our room was nice, and the property has cute spots outside to wander around. We enjoyed our one-night stay, though the staff we met could have been friendlier. We could hear the neighbors above and beside us through the very thin ceiling and walls.

The one good thing about the room was a comfortable bed and a quiet night’s sleep. The next morning, the staff were willing to hear our concerns before we made a quick exit. Our room looked nothing like the website’s “historic mansion” photos. It was a third-floor walk-up attic room with mismatched furniture, a stained chair cushion, and a garish black-and-white ceiling mural with poor seams. Wiring was exposed and taped down around the floor. There was no way to switch on a light at the room entrance. Stairwell fire doors were illegally propped open, parking was remote, and valet parking was limited to restaurant patrons. Don’t be fooled.

The room and suite both had cleanliness problems, and a bedroom TV was missing a necessary cable. After I reported it, the front desk told us to use the cable from the living room. We were left to reconfigure things ourselves to get a basic amenity working. For what the property charges and how it presents itself, guests shouldn’t have to troubleshoot a TV after being moved out of an unclean room. We checked in at about 10:00 PM after a long day, hoping to sleep in a clean, functional room. The first room clearly hadn’t been turned over: the bed was unmade, sheets were dirty, towels were on the floor, and trash was still in the bin. We took photos. At the front desk, they reassigned us to a suite, which looked like an upgrade, though it may have been the only option left that late. It had its own gross issues. The coffee table hadn’t been wiped down, several chairs had noticeable stains from a mysterious brown substance, and there were pubic hairs stuck to the wall in the primary bathroom. It made us wonder what else housekeeping had missed. I’ve spent many years in hospitality and don’t expect perfection. Mistakes happen, but the way they’re handled matters. This seemed like a deeper problem with housekeeping standards and room inspections, and the replacement suite still wasn’t acceptable. I messaged the General Manager before checkout and asked to speak. Several days have passed without any response from management or staff. I rarely write negative reviews, but this was frustrating enough that other travelers should know. The grounds and brand may suggest an upscale experience, but we got rooms that weren’t properly cleaned, visible hygiene issues, and no follow-up. I can’t recommend it based on this stay.
