Crows Nest Inn Tawas

The location works really well for the things we like to do, but the room could have been cleaner and the beds need replacing. We’ve stayed here before. What bothered me most was that nobody even acknowledged our complaint. We’re not people who usually complain.

On the last night, I found an adult cockroach on the floor. The front desk said they were fully booked, so they couldn't move me, and it was late enough that the owners were asleep. I understand the situation, but an apology, a call the next morning with some reassurance, or a discount on the ridiculous weekend rate would have helped. Even a bottle of RAID would've been something. The first night, someone robbed several cars and trucks in the parking lot. I know that's not necessarily the hotel's fault, and the hotel did call to check in and had security footage. Earlier in the stay, the room at the Crow's Nest smelled really bad, and there were marks on the bathroom wall like something had dripped and been left there. I've stayed at The Bay Inn before without serious problems, but I wouldn't recommend this place unless you're desperate.

In the morning sunlight, I noticed gaps around the door big enough for mice to get in. My daughter and I stayed a few nights ago, and neither of us slept well. The bed felt like a cheap Murphy style bed, and three days later I'm still sore. I brought my own pillow, but it still felt flat because the bed seemed off. The room was basically clean and had newer vinyl flooring, though check-in was a little bumpy. I didn't expect perfection at an older motel, but the mattress pad was stained, and one pillow had only a case, so its stain was visible. The bathroom was clean except for the walls, where there was spackle left behind and what looked like boogers beside the toilet.

The pool and hot tub are nice extras, and outside there's a small playground, a fire pit any customer can use, little grills, and a gazebo with lights at night. The rooms are clean and cozy. I love staying here whenever I go to tawas.
