Camel's Garden Hotel

Our room, number 205, had an exceptional balcony and lovely mountain views. The room itself was large, clean, and well equipped, and the whole property was clean, nicely decorated, and well maintained. The heated pool and steam room were great additions. There’s also a large basement parking area, which was a real plus, and everything around town is within walking distance. The Telluride gondola station is only a few meters away, practically 10 steps from the entrance. Coffee is available all day on the second floor, while breakfast was just OK. Telluride is a dog paradise, with lots of lovely dogs both on and off leash. I’m glad I booked here and would readily recommend this property to anyone looking for a place in Telluride.

The Galloping Goose bus passes every 15 minutes and takes you around town for free. It has a lift, so there’s no need to use the wheelchair. The rooms have nice balconies looking out at waterfalls cascading down the cliffs. You’re right by the Gondola, with a giant heated pool on the second floor and a great restaurant on the first. Breakfast is also on the second floor, with great views of the Gondola heading up the mountain.

This small, friendly hotel is solid, even if it isn’t especially luxurious, and it has lots of thoughtful little things many hotels don’t offer anymore. We’d happily stay again. The location is hard to beat: a few steps from the gondola, which runs in every season and allows dogs, about a block from restaurants and bakeries, and two blocks from Telluride’s charming main retail area. A lovely riverwalk is just a one-minute walk from the entrance for taking your pup out. The whole town is full of dogs, both on and off leash. We visited in fall, when the hiking was epic, with some trails easy to reach from town and waterfalls galore. Our king suite had a remarkable amount of space, comfortable furnishings, especially the couch, and robes. A second-floor room worked well for easy access to breakfast, coffee, and the hot tub. There are also a couple of comfortable, homey gathering areas, an underground parking garage for a fee, a big hot tub with a view, and a heavenly steam room. Coffee and tea are free all day. Coffee was ready as early as 4:45 am, a welcome bonus for this early riser. Breakfast is included, with muffins, freshly baked cinnamon rolls, bagels and lox, fruit, cereal, and more. They also leave the local paper and a printout of the local weather report each morning.

You’re just steps from the gondola and the rest of town, and parking was good, even for our higher-clearance vehicle. The room was really nice, with a comfy bed, fireplace, and A/C. Breakfast is free, but it was mostly toast, bagels, and yogurt, with no protein. Loved everything else about this hotel.
