Hyatt House Tempe/Phoenix/University

We usually like Hyatt houses when we travel, but this was easily the worst one. We were told housekeeping would visit every two days, yet during our four-night stay nobody came and the trash stayed in the room. We eventually ran out of toilet paper and towels and had to call the lobby for more. They said the hotel was full, which sounds like poor planning. Even if they're overbooked and short on staff, guests should still have basics like towels and toilet paper.

The location is convenient and central, but the service fell short throughout my stay. The shower pressure was extremely weak, and getting into the lobby was inconvenient because the layout seemed poorly planned. Breakfast was a letdown too: not many choices, low quality food, and stale-tasting, underwhelming coffee. With the service, amenities, and dining all below par, I gave the hotel this rating.

I stayed at Hyatt Place Tempe (601 E 6th St) Jan 27-29 for a work trip. Hiba at the front desk was kind, respectful, and very helpful, easily my best interaction there. A system issue caused a duplicate incidental hold, which she acknowledged and handled professionally. That wasn't my concern. Afterward, attempted charges appeared on my debit card: $100.81, then $52,720, and $520.72. They were blocked only because I'd frozen the card, which was alarming. I called about it, but Assistant General Manager Christy Blignaut denied the charges and repeatedly accused me of fraud in a dismissive, taunting way, even after I said I had screenshots of the attempted transactions. The call got so unprofessional I had to hang up. A billing associate eventually resolved the billing, but management's handling of it was unacceptable and didn't reflect Hyatt standards.

We booked ahead, but when we arrived, the hotel was overbooked and turned us away. They gave us a voucher letter for another hotel, then refused to honor it weeks later. Absolutely terrible management.
