Residence Inn by Marriott Temple

We stayed five nights and enjoyed a lot of things here, but I'll choose another hotel next time I'm in the area because I want better lighting for walking our dog at night. Some of the lights outside were dim or didn't work, and I was afraid to walk him by myself after dark. There was plenty of spacious parking, including lots of accessible spots. The hotel is gated and surrounded by trees, and its small, sharp entrance is easy to miss. Sol de Jalisco mexican restaurant is within walking distance, and it's a good breakfast mexican restaurant. The basketball court is well kept, and there's a pickleball net you can put up and take down. The trees are lovely, and cute stray cats mostly hang out in back. Laundry and the gym are in a separate building outside the hotel, not too far away. I enjoyed having a reason to walk outdoors since I spend most hotel days inside. The BBQ pit and pool area are nice, but the pit wasn't cleaned or maintained. It worked well for our BBQ after we cleaned it ourselves. The L-shaped pool was okay, though the water was a bit cloudy; tables and chairs were neatly arranged. We asked for housekeeping every two days at check-in but got no service during our stay. The hotel smell is nice, though the rooms smell old, perhaps because of the carpet. The AC was cold during the day and hot at night. The rooms are set up for cooking, and I'm sure they'd bring a pan if you called the desk for one. The bathtub is slippery, but they have mats to help prevent falls. Water pressure was good, shampoo, soap, conditioner, and body wash were provided, and the towels were clean. No bugs noticed, yayyyy! I also liked all the room lighting, with lamps in each corner plus the kitchen lights. I enjoyed my stay overall. Restaurants and shopping centers nearby were a plus. I was here for three nights on a business trip. The women at the front desk were friendly and gave good service, but the hotel is old and shows it. Like many Bonvoy hotels, it badly needs a renovation.

The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the shower hot and nice, and it was great having a full-size fridge. We stopped at the complimentary breakfast for juice, bacon, breakfast potatoes, and muffins. It's close to the freeway, and service was great, with a warm smile when we arrived and easy check-in and checkout.

This place is gross. The microwave looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months, and the sofa bed and shower were gross too. I can't believe this is a Marriott property. Wouldn't recommend it.
