TownePlace Suites by Marriott Temple

The hotel showed as open in Marriott's system, and customer service confirmed that when I contacted them, but when I arrived it was under renovations. I'd booked two months in advance, got confirmation, and even checked in online the day before. No one warned me it was closed. The phone number was disconnected when I called. I was left without a room and had to scramble late in the evening to find another hotel for triple the price of my reservation. This was an inexcusable failure of customer service, with no one willing to take responsibility. I strongly advise against booking unless you call the location to confirm it's open. Even then, I wouldn't stay there.

After my surgery, I stayed here with my mom and sister. The kitchen made things much easier, and having Netflix helped me feel at home and comfortable. My bed was very comfortable, and the room was clean. Even with construction going on, it wasn't too loud. Staff were so friendly and accommodating, especially when we needed lots of pillows to get me into a comfortable position. I'd definitely stay again.

Target is nearby, along with lots of good restaurants, and the hotel is right off I-35. I don't notice much traffic noise, though I do hear the train. It doesn't bother me. The rooms are nice, with good water pressure and dishes in the kitchen. The stovetop didn't cook well, maybe because the pans weren't right for it. The fridge also wouldn't stay shut, so we had to check that it closed and didn't pop back open. Just minor issues. Maids came by every day to ask whether we wanted the room cleaned, and everyone was friendly and helpful.

The room was oversized, which worked great with a roommate, and the kitchenette was really convenient when we got hungry and didn't want to head out for food. The only real downside was that renovations were happening in the dining area.
