Cannon Hill Inn

The room was clean and comfortable, and the ADA shower was huge. I was glad to find spare toothbrushes since I'd left mine at home. The town and Tim were both very friendly, and people can point you toward local attractions. For history buffs, the inn is in the historic district, within walking distance of the WWII museum and historical society. The town saw several engagements between Confederate and Union forces; I won't spoil the details, but I'd suggest visiting Cannon Hill Park and asking someone at the Historical Society about it. A quick note on arriving: I booked at the last minute, so I missed Tim when I got there and couldn't call without cell service. I use Mint Mobile on T-Mobile towers, and there's only a small patch of service in front of the tavern across the street. If you don't have AT&T, get the Wi-Fi password before you arrive. The tavern's Wi-Fi reaches the first few rooms, in case you end up in the same bind.

The neighborhood was quiet and, as far as I could tell, safe. I liked the room decorations, the spacious bathroom, and the queen bed, which was comfortable without being too soft or firm. There was just the right amount of bedding, including a fuzzy blanket, topper, and sheets. The bathroom had several choices of soap and conditioner, two kinds of shampoo and conditioner, shower gel, two bar soaps, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and those little cups that make brushing your teeth easier. Getting checked in took me a while. I arrived in the morning after being awake for about 20 hours, and the process was different from what I'm used to at big chain hotels. Eventually I figured it out, despite the cannon outside not giving me a clue. I also had to puzzle out the cordless blinds. Pull them from the thick bottom with the slats horizontal; the large bathroom one takes some muscle. Push from that same bottom to raise them. I was nervous about damaging it, but it's cordless. A lovely place, with nice rooms and large bathrooms. For the price, it's one of the better places I've stayed. I travel around the state and nearby areas and have stayed at quite a few places. I'd stay here again if I were back in the area.

Jim and Wendy really care about their customers, and they're great people. Can't wait to go back. The place is huge and relaxing, and we had an accessible bathroom that was easy to move around in without worrying about falling. From our downstairs room, we could go into the restroom, then through another door into the kitchen, so everything we needed was right there without going outside. 😊 😊 😊 ♥
