Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Terre Haute

We were there for a celebration of life and asked if we could check out later. They agreed to a $40.00 late checkout charge, but then charged us the full price for the second day. It is what it is. We also had to switch rooms three times: the first had no working toilet, the second had no TV, and the third was acceptable. We travel with a dog, and affordable dog-friendly places leave us few choices.

We booked the Hawaiian room, and it was outdated and in need of a lot of work. The door lock was so loose you could push it open. The fireplace didn’t work, one TV had no remote, there wasn’t enough hot water to fill the hot tub, several blind slats were missing, most colored lights didn’t work, and the waterfall was out. We arrived at 4:00 p.m., tried the hot tub for 45 minutes, then decided to leave because the room wasn’t what we expected. At the front desk, we said so, and the person just handed us a receipt. They didn’t ask anything or offer another room. Poor management. With the lack of upkeep, this motel needs to be demolished.

The bathroom door couldn’t close. It was hollow core and rotting, too big for its frame, and the doorknob had no tongue, so it wouldn’t latch even if it fit. The shower rod looked like it was barely hanging on, and the tub and its insert seemed to be disintegrating. Breakfast was anemic and the hospitality subpar. There’s no upside here. Save your money, however inexpensive it looks, because it still isn’t worth the price. Days Inn should remove its name from this property ASAP, and travelers should beware of the place as a whole.

The jacuzzi was basically a larger bathtub. Its jets didn’t work, and the water drained faster than I could fill it. I constantly felt like something was crawling on me, and one of my guests felt something bite them. I’d have rather slept outside than pay this much for the discomfort. I live nearby and had always been curious about the ice age “type” room. That anticipation didn’t last. The decor was outdated, and there was a moldy, wet smell that I first ignored because the room had a jacuzzi. The curtains looked like they’d never been washed, the two old recliners were stained, and the carpet may be what’s holding the smell. There was dirt and food on the bathroom floor, no remotes for the TVs, a phone with no cords that seemed to be there just for looks, and some outlets didn’t work. The room should cost the same as every other room. There’s no response you can give that would make this place worth anyone’s stay.
