The Hostel

The village location was perfect, with a supermarket 50m away, the post office and bus stops 100m away, restaurants close by, and the tram and lifts 200m away. My son and I spent two weeks here, and I'm really glad we picked The Hostel. The snow was a bit crap this year, but the room was warm and quiet. We weren't kept awake nightly by partygoers, just the occasional Jackson Hole fireworks at midnight. The kitchen is the main reason we'd choose this place again. We could make a cheap microwave dinner when we wanted, and had a microwave, dishwashing area, organized food storage, a fridge, and freezer. It's all paper plates and plastic cutlery. The laundry was good too. Common areas gave us room to relax, play games, and spend time with other guests, creating a Club Lodge feel we really liked. The trees, lawn, and tables out front make a lovely bit of natural space in the middle of the resort. Everyone at the front desk was friendly, helpful, and professional, including Lionel, the cat. Coffee was always fresh in the morning, cleaning was excellent, and someone was always at the desk.

It's basic and nothing fancy, but the common space has a nice buzz and the staff are friendly. For the location, the price is relatively reasonable. If you want to ski all day and just need a comfortable bed at night, this is a great fit. I'll definitely stay at the hostel again next time I'm at Jackson Hole.

I was feeling reclusive and wanted time to myself, so I didn't try the common areas, though the amenities seemed thoughtful and authentic. My room was cozy, clean, and warm. The walls are paper thin, but during my off season stay it was reasonably quiet at bedtime, which is what mattered to me. The staff were kind and helpful, and Lionel Richie the kitty cat was a pleasure with the best life ever. I enjoyed the Hostel. People who need more should probably choose one of the pricier places in the area. For anyone after a simple, clean, affordable place to stay, I highly recommend it.

If you're here to ski and don't need frills, this is a great place. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are available in the lobby, and downstairs there's ping pong, pool tables, and board games. You can get here from the airport by bus, just bring cash. The location is great too, right next to the mangy moose, where there's groceries, bar food, and more.
