Economy Lodge by Hotel O Texas City

We were in and out in five minutes. There were roaches on the counter and in the bathtub, urine all over the toilet seat, and filthy sheets. They returned my money without a problem and didn't ask why, so I can't complain about the service.

When we got to the first room, there was water all over the bathroom, so they moved us. In the second room, the TV didn't work, and neither did the phone on the table. We weren't given towels or room service. After spending the day in Galveston, we came back to the motel and found ourselves locked out. When I asked why, the woman was rude. These people are very rude. They need better management or something.

The room was awful. I had to clean it myself, the AC leaked all over the floor, roaches were everywhere, the lights didn't work, and the whole place smelled horrible. The bathtub hadn't been cleaned, with hair and dirt inside, and the floor and toilet were gross too. It's across from a big refinery. When it rained off and on, the rain was dark brown because of the refinery there. There were drug deals, addicts hanging around outside, and syringe caps all over the parking lot. The staff and owners were rude. When we asked for a refund, they refused and treated us like we'd done something wrong. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This place deserves to be shut down. They don't even deserve one star.

The most unsettling part was the broken latch at the top of the door and the missing smoke detector. Its frame had so much dust on it that it clearly hadn't been there for a while. We were booked for three nights but left after two. They offered a refund for the third night, but we just wanted out. The room was filthy. The floor was so gross we had to keep our shoes on, and everything looked like it had missed a duster or disinfectant wipe. The desk chair was worn and peeling. The shower walls were stained with all sorts of gross colors, and the shower head came up shorter than me at 5'7. The mini fridge worked but was dirty inside. The TV worked, though the remote didn't, and there were baked-in fingerprints on the microwave glass that wouldn't come off. At check-in, two half-smoked cigarettes on the front counter stank up the tiny lobby. Definitely steer clear.
