Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Texas City by IHG

There was green mold on the outside walls, and you could see it from inside too. When my partner and I entered our room, it smelled strongly of humidity. We asked the Front Desk to move us, but he said all the rooms smelled the same and that running the AC would clear it. He was kind enough to cancel our reservation, so we went somewhere else.

The shower was cold the night we checked in and again the next morning. I contacted the front desk and they sent maintenance, but the problem wasn't fixed. I was told the hotel had used all the hot water early for laundry, which was disappointing and inconvenient. At checkout, I was told 1,000 points were the only compensation, and only after I asked. When I explained my concerns, I felt mostly ignored and they checked me out quickly without much acknowledgment. The location is convenient, about 5 minutes from Tanger Outlets, 15 minutes from the Galveston cruise port, and near a few eateries. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was just okay, but free, which is a plus. The hotel had a smell I couldn't quite identify when we came in. It wasn't smoke, but it wasn't welcoming.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but the front desk clerk was extremely rude. I had to ask for housekeeping on day three, and there was no hot water on the last day. For the price and lack of service, I'd recommend looking into other properties in the area.

I stayed because it was close to my work, and there weren't any other rooms available anywhere nearby. But the microwave was disgusting, either extremely dirty or rusted. I opened it and immediately shut it again. The shower was nasty too, with mildew that hadn't been cleaned, so I used towels on the floor to shower. The carpet was stained badly and smelled. For what I paid, I won't stay there again. Managers, check room 206. You might ask why I stayed, but I couldn't find anywhere else to go.
