FairBridge Inn & Suites in Thorp, WI

We had a nice sitting area outside, though I didn’t try the pool. Breakfast was okay, with eggs, sausage, yogurt, and cereal. The location and service were great, and the room was clean with everything in its place, but it felt a little dated. For the price, I expected a more up-to-date room, but it was still a good experience.

I stayed here because my nephew lives in Thorp. The staff were all very friendly, and I loved seeing the cows out front. My room was clean and the beds were comfortable, though the room felt a bit dated. Breakfast was okay. The fitness center is very small and has limited equipment.

The bathroom was the main problem. It was sparkling clean, but the toilet smelled awful, like sewage, and wobbled when I sat on it. The sink and shower water smelled fine, so it wasn’t a well water smell. The room itself was nice and clean, and the bed was mediocre but serviceable. Service was great. Everyone was polite, and when the smoke detector started beeping about a low battery, the front desk person wasn’t sure how to replace it. The owner came in, presumably on his night off, and fixed it for us. We could hear it all the way down the hall, so I was glad he handled it instead of us changing rooms. The location suited our needs, though this isn’t much of a tourist destination. It did feel kind of expensive for the area.

That bed was horrible, and I didn’t sleep well in the room. Everything looked very outdated, and the price was really high. There’s a pool, but no hot tub or sauna, and the water was so cold I couldn’t stand being in it. The elevator is a joke too. It’s not a normal elevator, and I had to help people operate it. It doesn’t seem very good for elderly guests. If I stayed in the area again, I’d travel to the next town for a different hotel.
