Lakeside Cabins Resort

We spent a lot of time by the lovely pool, and the kayaks and paddle boards were a hit and easy to use. I also loved that everything was right there and walkable, so there was no need to drive to the lake, pool, beach, or basketball court. The staff were kind, welcoming, and helpful. Our cabin was more than I expected: comfortable even in the heat thanks to great AC, with a well-stocked kitchen and really nice cookware for regular meals. There were books, board games, and fun lawn games too. The screened porch was perfect for relaxing or eating together. Such a perfect family vacation, with so much to do and such nice cabins!

The condition of the place this year felt really neglected. In P26, our lights didn’t work, the door wouldn’t shut, there was no fan cover, mold in the shower, and lots of large ants. The bathroom smelled like urine all week, and it was just gross. The arcade had most of its entertainment broken, there were no vending machines, and holes in common areas were covered with plywood instead of properly repaired. Rental upkeep seems hit or miss. The pool area was unkept too: tree trimmings sat on the deck for days, the clock has been broken for years, and the water was gritty for half the week, though they fixed that toward the end. Robin, the lakeside point person, was loud with our kids and rude to some of our travel companions when they arrived. We’ve been coming here for 10 years with eight other family-friend families, spending around $100,000 collectively. We love the nostalgia and the convenience as a place to meet, and our kids see it as a tradition. But it’s gone downhill over the last four years, and this may have been our last year.

The shower never got hot, even for the first shower of the day with no other taps running, though the sink taps were very hot. It seemed like a shower mixing valve issue. Someone came to the unit while we were out, but nothing changed, and we had cold showers for the whole stay. The front desk person I spoke with was dismissive and said the small water heater could only handle one shower. We didn’t want to keep complaining. They also didn’t follow up after my email before arrival, or communicate after coming by. Aside from that, the cabins were clean, well maintained, decently equipped, and had plenty of places to sleep. We were visiting from Texas for a week with my son and daughter-in-law. The pool, kayaks, paddle boards, family-friendly Lakeside beach, sports courts, playground, and rec room were all in good condition. Staff were generally pleasant and friendly. We had a fun time and enjoyed the amenities and campy feel, and the location was easy to reach. I’d probably stay again.

We had a great time with several family members staying with us at Lakeside Cabins. There was enough to do at the resort that we didn’t really need to go elsewhere, though many attractions, restaurants, and shops were close by. The lake was clean and small, a good size for our younger kids, and the pool was warm and well kept. Our cabin was clean and had what we needed. I also liked how consistent the cabins looked. We’ll be back soon!
