The restaurant was a highlight for us. Every meal had such original flavors, and the chef even accommodated our request to add jalapeños, which we love. Jim described the dishes with so much care and passion, and Elaine went out of her way to help us get what we wanted. We felt looked after by the whole team, and they made our 10th anniversary extra special. The property itself was just as memorable. It’s full of character, with beautiful artwork and striking woodwork; every little nook has its own touch, almost like walking through a museum. Everything was clean and well kept. We also loved the trail overlooking the lake and the pool, which had lovely views across the property and water. The place exceeded our expectations in every way.
The rooms are nicely designed, and the staff were consistently welcoming, with warm greetings and little touches like chocolates in the evening. The grounds are lovely too, with lake views, a pool, hot tub, and small nature trails that make the place feel peaceful. There’s a lot of potential here. The dining didn’t come close to matching the prices, though. We had just one restaurant option, with a limited menu and disappointing food. On our first night, we waited nearly two hours for salmon that was undercooked. Room service felt more like cafeteria food, and breakfast in the room was especially poor. With the pool bar closed, even a simple daytime snack meant returning to the formal restaurant. A few practical details also need attention, including glitchy TVs and missing bathroom features. For a property with this setting and design, I expected better food and guest care. It seems management is more focused on appearances and events than on the experience luxury travelers are paying for. It would be a shame if such a distinctive place remained mainly a wedding venue when it could draw guests from well beyond the area.
We spent the weekend playing games in the lobby, and the staff brought us snacks without us even asking or charging us. We never felt like we were being too loud or in the way. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel like family and kept checking whether we needed anything. The spa was gorgeous and spotless, and the massage was the best we’ve ever had. Definitely get one. The owner or manager even came by to clear our plates, which was nice to see. Shane and Jessica were amazing bartenders. We made a lot of drink requests, but every one was perfect. We already can’t wait to come back, and hope you miss us as much as we miss you!
The pool and facilities are great, and the views are stunning. It’s a modern new resort that still has the charm of an old New Hampshire inn. The staff were terrific, friendly, and helpful. Food was excellent, though a little pricey, and felt worth it. It’s also close to many key areas.
We went for lunch in the lounge with our tween and asked whether there was a youth menu. The answer was a quick no. We also asked if the kitchen could make a grilled cheese to go with the soup, and were told no again. It was clear that making accommodations for kids wasn’t an option. The property is beautifully designed and appointed, and we were hoping to recommend it to family and friends who visit. They do welcome guests of all ages, but it’s really intended for adults. We respect that this is their business plan, but it was a surprise to learn in person. I only found their wish to be child-free after digging through the website FAQ. Parents should know there won’t be alternatives for children. We’ll recommend it to our adult-only friends and steer families away.
