We needed somewhere at the last minute, and we were relieved to find this place for me, my partner, and our two cats. The management was wonderful and made sure we had a good stay, and housekeeping was so sweet with the cats. Sonesta is an affordable, pet-friendly option near lots of attractions.
Everything was a win here: the hotel was so clean, and housekeeping and maintenance were friendly and attentive. The management and staff were lovely, always greeting you with smiles and good vibes in the lobby, and they tried to accommodate whatever we needed. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, and this is one of the nicest. They clearly work hard to be the best. Whether you’re visiting the area or traveling for work, this is the one I’d pick out of the five nearby. Sonesta of Eatontown has made me a returning guest. You’re awesome! :)
I travel a lot for work, and plenty of the other hotels around here are awful by comparison. Here, the front desk is very friendly, housekeeping keeps things in order, and the rooms are clean. They’re willing to work with what you need and treat you like family. One of the best area hotels I’ve stayed at, and I’d recommend it to anyone.
The rooms smelled like dirty feet and everything felt damp once we finally got in. We’d called ahead to arrange early check-in and were assured it wouldn’t be a problem, but neither room was ready when we arrived, even though the night before they had guaranteed it. There was also a $46 charge in the middle of the night that nobody on staff could explain, and they kept the room deposits too. I’ve spoken with others and read that small charges and deposits are taken randomly. It feels like they’re counting on people not noticing, which makes me think they’re taking money from guests. Avoid this hotel.
Room 234 is next to the gym and under the poolside fire pit, so we barely slept. When someone used the treadmill, the bed and attached lamps shook. The gym was supposed to close at 11, but the manager knew the door wasn’t locked and kids were playing on the treadmills until midnight. They laughed when I complained and started acting like Olympians. Outside our window, people were drinking and shouting by the fire pit until 1am. Were there no staff making rounds? Our kids had back-to-back games and a rough day. They’d left at 8:30am, and when we got back around 8:30 or 9:00pm, another team’s kids were worn out too. We ordered pizza and sent them to shower. One kid stepped into the hall with wet hair, and the manager was there threatening to call the police. We opened our doors to show our kids were accounted for and showering. It was the other team, whose parents were downstairs drinking. He should have checked with an adult instead of scaring a child; that kid wouldn’t leave the room without an adult afterward. I’ve never seen a manager act like that in all our years traveling. I’m filing a complaint with the leage. My son and I napped in the car because we knew we’d get little to no sleep in the hotel. There were some good points: the front desk gentleman was welcoming and easy to talk to, there was plenty of parking, and the rooms were nice enough and clean if you avoided 234. The location was convenient between the two ice rinks, with an Applebee's next door since the hotel restaurant is no longer open. The booking was also a mess. I left a message for the manager and never got a call back. I’d phoned about early check-in and was told it’d be fine, but at arrival they couldn’t find our whole team. The front desk called the manager, who couldn’t find us either and said Traveling Teams hadn’t answered. Someone there told us he’d received the list five days earlier. Our names had somehow been reversed, with last names listed as first names. Then he chastised the front desk in front of our group for doing what he’d done. I wouldn’t return even if you paid me. This is the worst review I’ve ever left, and it’s well deserved. 🚩🚩🚩🚩
