At 11pm, the arrival time shown in my reservation and confirmation, we were turned away despite having paid for two rooms online. I showed the clerk the charges from my account, which had gone through 30 minutes before I arrived. He started yelling that I had requested a smoking room and that I could never stay there. I stay in smoke-free motels, hotels, and inns all the time, so that wasn't an issue for me. We had to drive back 25 minutes and find a room in Sedalia, MO. It was the worst interaction I've ever had with business staff anywhere. Don't stay there.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we added another night. The motel was clean and cozy, had everything we needed, and the price was fair. That bed was so comfortable we could barely get out of it, lol. We'll definitely come back for the price and that bed.

The rooms were old and dated, with 1970s decor, and I suspect the carpet and mattresses may be from that era too. Both rooms smelled strongly of old cigarette smoke. It didn't bother me much, but my wife complained about it throughout our stay. There was a lot of paint worn away around the knobs and light switches. We didn't see any bugs, and the sink and toilet were clean. The coffee provided was awful. I pulled out my travel Keurig and made coffee in our own pot. There was no shampoo or continental breakfast. I'd only stay here again if I had to. We were traveling from Kansas City to Texas when a fierce thunderstorm came through and several tornadoes were reported nearby. We took shelter at the nearest place, Twin Pines Motel. There were four of us, my wife, our two sons, and me. Two rooms cost only $97.00, but that was where the positive part ended. Checking in was awkward. I don't think the man spoke English, and we mostly communicated by nodding and pointing. My wife is disabled and has a trained, certified service dog with paperwork. With rain blowing sideways and the wind raging, our nerves were already frayed and we just wanted to get somewhere safe. I forgot to tell the clerk about the dog. Less than two minutes after we got into the room, another man called and yelled at me about it. I crossed the parking lot through the pouring rain to the office. He forcefully said, “No pets!” I explained that it was a service dog and that I had certification. He said “No pets!” again, then angrily demanded an extra $100.00 for the dog. The service dog rules were new to me because my wife had only had the dog for a few months. With the tornado warnings and horrible storm, tensions were high, and I felt I had no choice but to pay and hurry back to the rooms. I learned later that they can't charge extra for a service dog or deny service because of one. You're also supposed to carry proof that the animal is a service animal, and service animals are supposed to wear something identifying them as such. We now have a vest that says “Service Dog,” a tag on her collar, and we always carry her paperwork.

We checked in around 2am, and by 9am they were already banging on our door, even though checkout was at 11. The bathroom blinds were cut up, so people could see in while you were showering, and the shower was really dirty. The next morning, the owner came to the door saying we had to pay extra for more people. Worst of all, our room had bedbugs. They were very rude.

I wouldn't stay here again unless I had nowhere else to go. My car would be better. The bed was so uncomfortable, and the smell under the covers put me off sleeping there. The rooms weren't very clean and had a funny odor, and the towels were thin and rough. Staff were kind of rude and not helpful. There was mold in the ice machine, and cigarette butts were scattered all over the grounds.
