The birds and grounds made this stay especially lovely. I watched the resident heron have breakfast by the pond, and a mockingbird in the front magnolia sang from 6:00am until dusk. I even found myself trying to identify the other birds as I wandered around. Inside, the decor was spot on, and the home has real historical significance. Jim and Tracy were warm, thoughtful hosts without being intrusive. I felt privileged to stay here. The made-to-order breakfasts were absolutely delicious, and the peace and quiet were just what I wanted. I’m already looking for a chance to come back.

We had such a good time here. The property has lots of old charm, and we enjoyed walking around and spotting birds. The host was the sweetest, and breakfast was the best we’ve ever eaten. The local farmers market was fantastic, too.

We left feeling more relaxed than we have in ages. The property is beautiful, and its history makes the place feel special. Tracy and Jim were gracious, interesting hosts, and we loved talking with them. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful spot with us. If you’re traveling in the area, I hope you get to experience this gem.

We’ve stayed at The Inn at Mitchell House since our middle daughter was two, and she’s 24 now. After traveling all over the U.S. and Europe and staying in dozens of places, this inn still has a special place in our hearts. Even turning into the tree-lined driveway makes the stress of everyday life start to fade. Tracy and Jim Stone are simply the best innkeepers, and after owning the house for more than 30 years, they know the area well and point you toward great restaurants and activities. The historic house is stunning, the homemade breakfast is to die for, and the spacious grounds are peaceful and quiet. The cottage is just as wonderful. We spent a glorious week there this summer and came home feeling restored, with great memories. We can’t wait to return.

The wildlife, flowers, and beautiful trees made the grounds feel almost magical, and we watched hummingbirds fly around while we ate our tasty breakfast. My boyfriend Dave and I thought this was one of the most beautiful bed and breakfasts we’ve ever visited. Jim and Tracy were friendly and hospitable, and knew a lot about the area, including where to go and how good each place was. We’ll definitely return in the fall.
