William Tell House

The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a view over the park and patio. Check-in was simple, the French press coffee was good, and the bed was comfortable. I liked the original creaky floors, too. Climbing the old wooden stairs made it feel like stepping back into the house’s past. It’s sad to see its best days fading, with the once-famous restaurant and music venue now closed. There are excellent places to eat nearby, plus a bakery, and the staff at the local general store are friendly.

While staying at The Continental, we found this a great spot for dinner and a beer. The bartenders were friendly and the service was great. We went with the fish and chips, since we were so close to the source, and it was delicious, though there may have been a few too many fries. You can decide how much to eat. The local cider was great too, but I can’t remember its name.

We stopped here for dinner on the way home and had a really nice time. Seating is outdoors, with picnic tables in a few sizes and a couple of seats set off to the side. The bartender was friendly and explained how ordering worked. She also helped me choose, and her description of the salmon toast had me sold. The chef came through, and every dish was fantastic, including my son’s mac and cheese. Prices felt fair for the food and were what I expected from the menu. Can’t wait to come back.

The performers were hilarious, and their drag show made us feel like family. We had a wonderful time, and the drive was worth it. The outdoor venue felt cozy, the food was delicious, and the staff were friendly, professional, and efficient. We loved the whole experience and plan to go back, with a trip farther along to Bodega Bay as part of the day.
