Motel 6 Roswell, NM

We drove cross-country with my son, a dog, and a cat, and had booked online through the Motel 6 app around 10 a.m. for a late check-in around 6. We called to confirm and asked for a ground-floor room because we had all our things, the cat box, and the pets’ medication to move. They confirmed both the reservation and ground floor. I’m newly retired and was looking forward to the drive back to my hometown and revisiting old memories. We’d even taken pictures with the Space Alien out front. Each Motel 6 has its quirks, and Roswell had its own. At check-in, the clerk said there were no ground-floor two-bed rooms available, period. We tried to explain why we needed one, but she didn’t care. The lack of the room bothered me less than her curt, flippant, frankly rude manner. She offered to cancel at least four times. With a dog and cat, our choice was to take what we got or sleep in the car with my son and pets, in winter. She needs lessons in how not to be a jerk. Since then, only two reservations later, I’ve made sure to have a backup so I can leave if someone treats customers like an inconvenience and has no empathy. I’ll never stay at this Motel 6 again. Book somewhere else or be ready to get berated for being a customer.

We’re driving across the U.S. to California with our dogs, and this was definitely the fanciest Motel 6 we’ve stayed at. The room was clean and great, with a comfy bed. There’s a small dog-walking area, but watch for stickers and check your dogs’ paws afterward.

Great value, and I’ll stay here again. My room was nice and clean, and the staff were golden and helpful. I didn’t see even the slightest sign of roaches.

The location’s great, with Walmart and McDonald’s just two minutes away. My room was in order and clean, though I did find two roaches in the tub, so maybe clean isn’t quite the word. I got three beds when I’d asked for two, and only needed two. Maybe that’s why the price was higher than I expected.
