There was glass on the room floor, and both the sheets and towel were dirty. My allergies got really bad in there, and I’m allergic to dogs and cats. The AC was super loud, and there was no heat. Even if the unit could make heat, I couldn’t have slept with that noise. Thankfully, it wasn’t too cold.

The room has amazing history, which made the poor management all the more disappointing. There wasn’t anyone else to take a complaint to, since calls and emails go straight to the young manager. When I raised the dirty food in the fridge, his mother, who works at another hotel, told me he wasn’t feeling well and was having anxiety attacks. She helped us out, but the bedding wasn’t clean, so we waited until 9:30 that night to go to bed. She also had to wash our laundry. We told them it was no big deal, but it was a frustrating situation. The room itself was filthy. There were nasty leftovers in the fridge, floors that hadn’t been swept, and cigarette butts on the floor in a no-smoking hotel. When my wife pulled back the blankets at bedtime, the bed was dirty, with hair and what looked like sex stains. The pillows had been turned upside down, as if to make them look clean. Management really let us down.

Getting around on foot was great, with everything within walking distance. The beds were really comfortable, and the place was clean and very nice. The only downside was the water pressure.

The historic feel and ideal location made this place special for me. I loved the old-timey rooms and hope they never redo them. I’d happily rent room 4 long term if I could! It wasn’t the cleanest, and the microwave was dirty, but the manager and owners were very responsive. Still a five for personality and solid historic appeal. Thanks for a great stay!
