Broken Spur Inn & Steakhouse

We left full and didn't need dessert, and we'd eat here again. The vegetables were a real highlight for us, cooked just right with some bite to them. The mix was yellow squash, string beans, and carrots. Who wants squishy squash? Not me. My wife liked her mashed potatoes, though she added butter or gravy because she's picky. My baked potato was very nice, and the hot biscuit tasted good, even if it left a little grease on the roof of my mouth. We split a plate, which came with another serving of potatoes, vegetables, and a biscuit. The New York steak was a bit tough and could've used cracked pepper or coarse salt while cooking, but the table had both, so it wasn't a big deal. It hit the spot, especially for a motel restaurant. The dining room is large and comfortable. It was busy and the wait ran longer than we'd have liked, but the meal was still fine.

The server was so friendly, and every side was great. We had the prime rib and a petite steak with garlic shrimp. Both steaks were tender and full of flavor.

The kids' meal had a good range of choices and generous portions, which impressed me. It's a quaint place, and the cheerful host seated us right away. The prices did catch me off guard, though. They felt steep.

We ordered the ribeye, cheeseburger, grilled half chicken, and dessert, and everything tasted delicious. The portions were huge for a fair price. Staff were warm and friendly, and the service was great.
