Victorian Charm Inn

We turned around and left, though the caretakers were friendly and didn't seem surprised. We'd booked through Booking.com and contacted them to ask for a refund because the listing felt misleading. The Family room was actually two tiny connected rooms, and only one had AC despite it being 30 degrees Celsius outside. The “private” bathroom wasn't attached to the room either, it was across a shared hallway. As soon as we entered, an overwhelming musty smell from the old carpet hit us.

The hosts were really friendly. We had a great time and will definitely come back.

The room was beautiful, very clean, and extremely quiet. We had wonderful service, a great breakfast, and they went out of their way to make the stay a good one. They also told us about entertainment spots nearby. Their dog came to greet us when we arrived, which we loved. We've never been treated so well anywhere else, and we'll definitely return. I can't say enough good things about them, and would encourage everyone to stay there. Best experience ever.

Breakfast is self-serve, and you mostly meet the owners virtually. The friendly note explaining how to reach them makes the place feel a bit haunted. We talked with a few repeat guests over breakfast or afterward, and it seems they get plenty of return visitors. For all its flaws, we enjoyed our stay and felt it was decent value. This is an interesting inn in central Pennsylvania, but the building needs maintenance despite being clean. Everything squeaks: doors, every stair, chairs, the hall floor, and the room floors. The windows don't seem to work. We've stayed in much older inns that were in far better shape.
