Days Inn by Wyndham Towson

The room smelled bad and had no sheets, dirty towels, and flies all around. The service did help us get a full refund, which was nice. I’ve stayed at several Days Inn and know the service isn’t like a Hampton Inn, but this one was unbelievably bad. Look elsewhere if you need a hotel.

We had to leave this place and find somewhere else to stay near GBMC in Towson, where my mother was having surgery. She needed to do a sterile cleanse before her 5:30 a.m. surgery, and this motel wasn’t somewhere we could stay. It didn’t even have basic things like toilet paper. The refrigerator we needed for her medicines didn’t work, tiles were missing from the floor, and the bathroom had stains. We’re senior citizens on a fixed income, so paying for another hotel was hard. Believe it or not, the replacement was cheaper and had the comforts we needed. Days Inn never refunded what we paid, including the second night we’d reserved.

The bed was comfortable, the TV and fridge worked, the hot water came quickly, and the food water pressure was good. The service was helpful, though slow. But don’t trust the photos. The room was dirty and smelled awful, the furniture was stained, the bathroom was disgusting, and the building was crumbling with no sign of repairs underway. There was no free breakfast either, despite the sign announcing one from 6:00 to 10:00. The dining area was in shambles and closed. Stale smoke and mildew hit me as soon as I opened the door. There were big food splatters on the ceiling and walls, and the furniture was so stained I wouldn’t put my suitcase on it. I cleaned the walls myself with dish soap and warm water, which got rid of most of the smell and made it comfortable enough to sleep. The bathroom, especially the toilet, was disgusting, with mildew on the toilet and walls and everything in poor repair. The walls were clearly covered in smoke residue. The clerk was slow and dressed unprofessionally. I saw her having cold sweats in her hoodies and felt sorry for her, since she was clearly not well. Avoid this place unless you like dirty, smelly, sketchy hotels in bad repair.

I expected less after reading the bad reviews, but my room from Booking.com was fairly nice and actually quite comfortable. The bed was clean, and I had a TV, microwave, fridge, and a nice couch and desk where I could work. I also like that it’s pet friendly. The area around the motel and rooms could use some cleaning and repairs, though. It makes the property look run-down and abandoned.
