The staff were really nice, and the two men who came up to deal with the spiders on our balcony did a careful job. I appreciated that. The rooms themselves were plain but fine, and the place was pleasant enough. I just don't see much that would make me return. Calling it a resort feels misleading, since that sets expectations higher than the property delivers. Breakfast was basically gas station food, and I skipped it the second morning because the sandwiches looked like they'd been in the freezer too long. The beach comes with chairs, but that's about it for the price. Boats and kayaks are available through another company, though I think kayaks should be included. I wouldn't expect boat rentals at that rate, but there isn't much else that makes the location feel special. The balcony should also have been cleared of spiders before we checked in, even if it was early in the summer season. The TVs could use an upgrade to smart TVs. For what you get, I think the price should be under 200, or the hotel should offer more or improve what's there. I'd stay again if I had to, but if I had a choice I'd probably try somewhere else. I can recommend it, but I don't see a reason to come back.

Those breakfast boxes were a clever touch, and the lake view was beautiful. Our room was clean, with plenty of space, and the bathroom was large too. We really enjoyed staying here and will definitely return.

The pool and hot tub were relaxing, and we also loved spending time in the lounge for food and entertainment. The whole place was very clean. Our beds were comfortable, the showers had great pressure, and the staff were lovely and welcoming. When we come to TC, this is where we stay. We love this hotel and don't think you'll be disappointed.

The beach is right on the east arm of the Grand Traverse bay, with loungers, chairs, and umbrellas on the sugar sand. If you'd rather swim indoors, there's also a big pool and hot tub. The views are gorgeous, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Our king-size pillow top mattress was comfortable, and the walk-out patio led straight to the beach. Historic downtown Traverse City is only a few minutes away, with lots of shops and plenty of places to eat, from pubs and restaurants to food trucks. Sugar Beach Resort is a great spot for a summer tan or just relaxing by the water.

Even in the middle of winter, Sugar Beach felt like a peaceful break from everything. The view from my room was lovely, and I could choose a boxed breakfast to enjoy whenever I wanted. The bed was VERY comfortable, and the room was clean with everything I needed for a quick getaway and a solid night's sleep. Daniel was at the front desk during my 24-hour stay, and his warm welcome really shaped the experience. Maybe this could become a new December tradition?
