The inn was really quiet, which made for a peaceful, private stay, and it was extremely clean. The owners and staff also got back to us quickly. There’s a bakery/coffee shop and a restaurant right nearby, and the location was convenient. Still, for the off-season price, I expected more. The grounds weren’t as large or well kept as we’d assumed from the Airbnb listing, and there was no coffee, tea, snack basket, or even basic paper towels or napkins. We had to buy those ourselves. I’d come back if the rate were lower, or if the amenities and grounds were better.

The place was easy to get in and out of, and the host answered questions promptly. Inside was nicely kept, with a full kitchen, and the location worked well for us: about 18 minutes from Bar Harbor and roughly 10 from Walmart and other conveniences. Just be aware that the beds may feel quite different from one another. We had a great stay and would gladly return.

We liked Apartment 6 even more than Cabin 12, mostly because it had a full kitchen. Open Hearth Inn had all the things we needed, from towels and cookware to a Roku for the TV, blankets, a heater, and a dehumidifier. We even decided to add a second night after our first one in Cabin 12. My husband and dog loved it too. It was 20° outside, so we went to the hot tub both nights to warm up. The host was kind and quick to respond. I’d love to come back!

We brought our Labradors for a February overnight, and the room was clean and had what we needed. We also got to use the hot tub, then watched a movie before heading out early the next morning. Such a nice find. We’ll be back!

We stayed in one of the cottages, and the kitchen was fully stocked. After hiking in the snow and rain, coming back to the hot tub was great. The place sits right off route 3, which made getting to and from Acadia National Park easy even with snow and ice. For winter visits to Acadia, the Hill Cove main entrance isn’t usable. Go around Bar Harbor on route 3 until schooner road, then follow that into the park.
