La Quinta Inn & Suites Trinidad

The patio has a beautiful mountain view, and we liked looking at the vintage autos out front. The common areas also have a nice collection of local antiques and historic memorabilia. The hotel was spotless throughout, with thoughtful decor, and our room was comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly, especially the cheerful breakfast crew. The gym was fine for a workout, and the pool looked inviting.

I’ve still got another week here, and by the time I leave I’ll have spent a whole month at the hotel for work. You get to see the day-to-day operations up close during a stay that long, and the staff do a great job. Everyone I’ve dealt with has been kind, attentive, friendly, and helpful. They’re also incredibly accommodating with pets, and I have my dog with me. The place is right off the highway, so it’s easy to get around. I’d stay again if I needed to.

The staff made breakfast feel like a real meal at a nice diner, not the usual hotel spread. Service was unmatched, and it felt like the people serving us actually cared. Some of the main dishes changed daily, so there was a fresh special to try. This is also the most pet-friendly hotel we’ve found: there’s a big, beautiful potty area, treats by the door, and the pets are treated like people. The rooms feel a little luxurious, with high ceilings and heavy doors, and the beds were so comfortable I wanted to stay lazy. But there are beautiful state parks around the hotel, so we got out and explored. The price was great for Valentine's weekend, when my husband and I wanted to avoid overpaying. We drove from DFW Tx to Albuquerque NM and then to Trinidad CO. This is now one of our favorite hotels, maybe our top one. We hadn’t expected such comfortable, thoughtful care, and we got it. This may be the best La Quinta I’ve stayed at. The rooms were clean, the pool and hot tub both worked, and the breakfast was decent. There’s also a lot to look at and read around the place. What really stood out was how they handled my girlfriend leaving her and our kids’ tablets in the room. The staff called when they found them. They’re honest people, and I’d absolutely recommend staying here.
