Holiday Inn Express Portland East - Troutdale

As a woman traveling alone, I felt safe here. The hotel is near a railroad and truck stops, so there was some noise, but it didn’t bother me, even in a downstairs room facing them. The teen girls making noise at 3 am on three of my six mornings were more annoying. The staff were super nice, and I want to thank Rashida, sorry, I forgot to ask how she spells her name, for going out of her way to get the room and hotel details I needed before booking for work. The location is handy for the interstate, food, and gas, about a 5 to 7 minute drive to downtown Troutdale and 3 to 5 minutes to the outlet shopping center. I didn’t have breakfast, but it looked like there was a good selection. My room was very clean and had a microwave and mini fridge, which was roomier than at many places I’ve stayed. I could fit quite a bit of food and water in it. There was Dove soap, shampoo, conditioner, soft thick towels, and a bed that was comfortable by my standards. I’d certainly stay again.

I booked directly through the hotel, then realized I’d entered the wrong date only when I got an email saying I could check out online on the day I thought I was checking in. The room cost $170, and I couldn’t afford to pay for a second night, so I called the hotel directly to ask whether there was any way to fix my honest mistake. The employee said there was nothing I could do, I’d lost the money, and I should refer to the no-show policy. I expected more help from a company over a mistake like this. Surely I’m not the only person who’s done it. Bad customer service, and I won’t give this hotel or company my money for the foreseeable future. Confirmation #47854099

The front desk people were really nice, and I enjoyed the yummy breakfast. I did have trouble finding the place at first and think the sign could be better. To be fair, I had a couple of not-so-great navigators trying to help me.

We arrived late on Friday, October 17, and Rachedia at the front desk welcomed us warmly. She answered our questions, was very helpful, and made us feel special. The next day, she was cleaning the pool and spa area and still seemed in a great mood, even though she’d been up all night.
