Best Western Troy Inn

Check-in was quick and easy, the staff were friendly, and the room was clean. The side doors couldn't be opened because the key card reader wasn't working. There is a pool, though I didn't use it. This hotel sits farther down the road from the many gas stations and fast food places along this stretch in Troy. It's quieter there, but less convenient, since going anywhere means driving or ordering delivery. The free breakfast wasn't good, with biscuits and sausage gravy plus scrambled eggs, but at least it was free.

The parking lot is small, so be careful if you're towing a trailer. My shower kept leaking and I had to fix the toilet to stop it running. Otherwise, the place was clean, and the people working there were very nice and helpful.

The room was just okay, and breakfast was pretty good, but I wouldn't stay here again. On Sept. 27th, the clerk seemed unsure how to handle check-in and charged my card twice. When I went back, she couldn't fix it and said the midnight clerk might know how. She also called the police on three guests she'd checked in, apparently because their card hadn't gone through and she was trying to get payment. The next morning, another staff member said she'd only been there two days and couldn't help, though she thought one charge might drop off. I had to contact my credit card company about the mistake. This wasn't what I expected from Best Western.

For what they charge, I expected much better. Half the outlets in our room didn't work, and the nightstand was slanted and coming off the wall. We've had to go downstairs three times to get replacement keys because they keep stopping working. The pool was crumbling, and I couldn't tell what was on its bottom. Probably the worst hotel I've stayed in. I won't come back.
