EVEN Hotel Detroit North - Troy

I needed somewhere to stay because my building lost heat, and it was 5° outside, even though I live nearby in Ann Arbor. I’ve traveled through 30 countries and all 50 states, and I’ve never seen a pool as fantastic as this one. At night the lights change the water from pink to purple to blue to green, which is really fun and appealing. The gym is brand new too, with state of the art equipment. I walk on a treadmill every day and wish I had theirs at home. The hotel was formerly the Drury Inn, and its remodeling and decor are outstanding, with modern design and elegant sophistication. It felt warm and welcoming, and the staff added to that. Ohla checked me in promptly and gave me helpful information. Since the first person I meet at a business shapes my impression of whether I’ll stay, her role is key. I also had a great conversation with several staff, including Kris from the management team. Later, I spent nearly an hour swapping stories with Amail and Spencer. Then Wael, who does the laundry, came into the lobby. Amail introduced me as a new guest, but Wael thought I was a new employee and didn’t approve of me standing around in sneakers and sweatpants eating potato chips and drinking a Coca-Cola while on the clock. Amail cleared up the misunderstanding, and Wael was relieved. He seems like a real asset, since he wants his coworkers to have a respectable work ethic. I was there over a weekend, and despite what earlier reviews said about construction, it was extremely quiet, with no remodeling workers around. From what I could tell, the work was 95% complete, in the final stretch of a huge undertaking. The payoff should impress everyone.
