At around 11 p.m. on January 30, my wife and I arrived at Bos Landen Hotel for our two-night booking, made specifically because the pool and hot tub were supposed to be available. The night manager and Alex were polite when they told us both were out of service. We had come in 0° weather hoping to use the pool, so I explained how disruptive that was and said we might cancel the next day’s appointment. I also asked for a substantial discount. The manager said she couldn’t approve one, but thought the day manager would significantly lower the rate if I spoke with them in the morning. After breakfast and visiting family on Saturday, I went to the desk. A tall young blonde clerk was there with a reasonable middle-aged woman who didn’t seem to have authority to discuss a discount. I asked the clerk to call her manager because the conversation was going nowhere. She handed me the phone, and when I asked for speakerphone, the senior manager answered angrily, saying her father was in the hospital after a heart attack and asking what the hell was going on. I told her I was sorry about her family’s situation. Then I said the way she was speaking made a reasonable conversation unlikely, and that I was leaving, so I walked away. About five minutes later, the clerk knocked on our room door and said they had charged my card, checked us out, and that her manager wanted us to leave immediately. We had already paid, and as far as I could tell, no discount was given. I’m sharing this on behalf of my Dad, who stayed there January 30th, 2026. Would you trust these people to run your hotel while you were away?
Maud made the place feel like home, always greeting people with a smile and sharing local history and stories. She’s full of knowledge and positivity, a real treasure. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the bed was too. It’s close to Pella and nearby attractions, so we’ll be back. Thanks, Maud!
My daughter had to perform at State Individual at 8 a.m. after our three-hour drive to Pella, and we ended up with nowhere to sleep at 9:30 that night. The coaches helped us find a room at their hotel so she could rest, but this should never have happened. I had booked one night for 10/23, and the first keys we were given didn’t work on the room with a do not disturb sign. The front desk said the cards sometimes needed to be redone and housekeeping had forgotten the hangers. On the second try, we heard someone inside. The clerk first insisted it was our room, then after a wait said there must have been a glitch or our room had been given away. All he could offer was a King room, with no pullout couch or rollaway bed. We’re a family of four, and I’ve never had this happen after years of booking hotels. I emailed General Manager Kim that night and asked her to call me Friday morning with a resolution. She didn’t, so I called that afternoon and was told she was sick and to try Monday. On Monday I called again because I wanted someone to respond so this wouldn’t happen to someone else. I was told Kim was on another call and would get back to me, but she never did. When I called Tuesday, 10/28, I could hear the front desk woman talking with GM Kim about giving me points. Kim still wouldn’t speak with me and had Lisa handle the conversation. I was furious to be left without a room on a busy weekend when almost all the hotels were booked. Kim didn’t contact me or even talk to me, and I’m very disappointed in how she handled it. I was angry Thursday night, yes, but if she’d emailed or called me back, we could have dealt with it much better.
The room was good, and I liked the table and rub. Staff seemed nice, and breakfast was pretty good. They’ve also got good K cups now and better creamer. A nice place overall.
The pool room was beautiful, with paintings on the walls and a huge hot tub. Our room had a jacuzzi tub too, which was an extra perk. It was quiet and comfortable, the staff were really friendly, and breakfast in the morning was great. Such a nice place to stay.
