Red Roof Inn St Louis - Troy, IL

Of the six RRI properties I’ve stayed at, this was the best. A few things in the room needed attention, but maintenance or management fixed them. I also left a list of other concerns at the desk when I checked out. The pool was estimated to be 82 degrees. That’s fine in summer, though 86 might be nicer in winter. I would’ve liked to swim, and I’d certainly come back.

This is a convenient halfway stop on my trips, and I’ve stayed here about six times over the past three years. My dog stays free and has room to walk around. Restaurants and gas stations are close, the front desk staff are polite and friendly, and my room has always been clean. I’ve never had a problem and will be back soon.

The room was filthy. There was dirt and sticky stuff on surfaces, hair and sand in the beds, and the bathroom was deplorable. The refrigerator hadn’t been cleaned either. It had several substances in it and a used disposable plastic spoon. The heater was the worst part: black mold, with about an inch of dust and debris over the intake fins. It made me gag. I’ve never been in a more disgusting hotel. It should be shut down. See the attached photos.

The room was exceptionally dirty, so I kept my things off all the surfaces except the bed. Still, with the low price and free stays for pets, I felt I got decent value. It had the necessities, was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the heating and AC worked well.
