Horizons Beach Resort

We were left scrambling after another resort messed up our booking, and Dann was able to arrange two nights for us on the hill, across 6A, with a great ocean view. We’d already spent two nights at the other place, so his help made the rest of our anniversary trip relaxing. The property has one part right by the ocean and another where we stayed. We’re very grateful to the nice gentleman in the office for sorting it out, and he was very kind.

The refrigerator had visible mold and looked like it hadn’t been replaced since the 1970s. The linens also seemed dirty, as if someone had slept in them before us, and there were insects all over the room: spiders on the tables and lamps and behind doors. We even found two ticks, which left us unable to sleep or feel safe. We were there with our family, including two babies, and it was one of the worst stays I’ve had. When we called the front desk, the woman said she was handling reception and cleaning by herself. That explained why it felt like the rooms weren’t being properly cleaned. Nothing seemed clean or well maintained. I regret spending money here and wouldn’t recommend it, especially for families with small children. The place needs serious attention and professional management.

We booked a top-floor end unit two weeks ahead, across the street from the majestic beach, and had a wonderful staycation at Horizons. The room had an old-school charm and no frills, but everything we needed for a weekend or a week, plus plenty of towels. Bring body wash and shampoo, since they provide soap. Check-in was seamless, and we just dropped off our keys when checking out.

The room was small and not cheap, though everything else nearby costs even more, so it was good value in that context. We were on the second floor and had to unload by a space around the side, carry our things down the row of rooms, then move the motorcycle back to the front car park. In the hard Cape Cod rain, with heavy gear, that was tiring. A ground-floor room would’ve let us park outside, and we should’ve paid extra for one. The owner can’t be blamed for the weather.
