Duo Housing Hostel

The location is great, but I left after just one night even though I’d booked two. I was assigned a 10-bed dorm instead of the 12-bed one I reserved, which was fine, but the rooms felt incredibly crowded. The lockers didn’t work, and my sheets had hair and stains on them. The common area was dark and unwelcoming. They don’t allow shoes inside, so people were walking around barefoot or in dirty socks. The whole place smelled like cheese.

A convenient location for getting around Washington DC, with public transport and major attractions easy to reach. This budget hostel draws students, interns, travelers, and conference guests. There are shared and private rooms, free Wi-Fi, a communal kitchen, social common areas, and free pancakes in the morning.

I’ve stayed at Duo three times, in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and enjoyed it each time. It’s a hostel, not a hotel, so privacy is limited, but it’s cheap, safe, in a great location, and respectful to Latinos. I was in the second building, where the AC worked perfectly. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom and kitchen were nearby and always cleaner. The pancakes were good too. For the price, it’s the better choice if you’re okay with less privacy.

The food and atmosphere made for an unforgettable stay. From the moment we arrived, the place felt warm, inviting, and relaxing, just right for a getaway. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and we had a wonderful experience.
