Best Western Gold Poppy Inn

We were very happy with our one-night stay. The room was spacious and clean, and the shower worked really well. Service was very good, too. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, sausage patties, bacon, pancakes, and toast, along with cold cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, milk, and juice. It was very good.

My suite was spacious and comfortable, and the hotel was very quiet. Staff were friendly in both the morning and evening. The TVs were a good size and had Dish Network plus other options. I’d never seen channels arranged alphabetically in the guide before, but it made finding them easy. The location is handy, tucked behind a Travelodge and next to a Denny’s for anyone who doesn’t want to go out for food. The service at that Denny’s was atrocious, though there are plenty of good choices down the street. I skipped breakfast both days and didn’t use the jacuzzi or pool, so I can’t comment on those. I’d highly recommend the hotel.

There are plenty of food options nearby, plus a QT gas station, and the staff are kind and friendly. The cook was especially nice, and the women at the bell desk always greeted us warmly. Rooms were impeccably clean, the beds comfortable, and the pool well maintained. Hot breakfast is served every morning until 9, and it was very good. There are also washer and dryer units on the property. I’m so pleased with the staff that I’ll come back to Tucson just to stay at this hidden gem.

The rooms were lovely, clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and I had no problems with the accommodations or general services during our visit with family. But the front desk interaction made it hard for me to recommend the place. At check-in, an employee named Kalesy came across as rude and unwelcoming, as if our presence were a nuisance. That first impression made the stay uncomfortable. Later, while my girlfriend and I were in the lobby, we overheard Kalesy speaking negatively about colleagues in front of guests. It felt unprofessional and inappropriate for a customer-facing role. Respectful communication matters in hospitality, and this experience fell short. If that behavior continues, I can’t confidently recommend staying here.
